Foreign Policy
Sweden followed neutral and peaceful policy in the two world wars. At the international level it has strongly opposed the Vietnam War, which led to spare the United States diplomatic relations with Sweden in 1968 and the subsequent recognition of northern Vietnam in 1969. It has also established diplomatic relations with East Germany in 1972.
